I'm not a mechanic by trade, but I consider myself a fair wrench turner. I was replacing bearings in the dana 60. Outer race I bought came from China. Numbers are identical to the Timken I pulled out. Driving this race in with a Brass drift and it snapped. I've never seen this happen. I put the Timken back in. Then I had trouble getting the inner bearing over the spindle. It would NOT go on without excessive force. I reused the Timken again. Damn!

Chinese and Quality are rarely used in the same sentence.... :deal:

+1

counterfeit hardware has been a plague for some time, particularly in the aircraft field

spend the $$, get the known quailty good stuff....you will thank yourself later

Wow, that is spectacular suckage. I'd go with a well used Timken over a new China bearing any day.

chinese quality is like happy camper.
i dont think theres ever been a happy camper

I thought my eyes were playing tricks on me with the words chinese and quality in the same sentence. Finding the Made in USA stuff is getting harder (and easier with the internet) but well worth the effort. This thread reminds me why I like the older GMs and this site. I would rather have a quality made old something than a shiny new, lucky-if-it-works something.
