79K5 350 manual trans.

I finally got around to installing a reman carb from Nat. Carb. It's a little different than the carb that I took off and I haven't figured out where or how to attach the vacuum line for the choke. I'm waiting to get a response from Nat. Carb. I haven't been able to decipher vacuum diagrams.

The port in question is circled in black.79HiLo1Markup.jpg

Ok, I think I've figured this out...looks like I have a hot air choke set up. I found a couple of videos on YouTube that showed a similar set up on a Malibu and figured out what I'm missing.

Thinking back to when I bought this K5, the carb that was on there was trashed, but the engine would start. On CraigsList I found a guy that was selling a couple carbs which I bought and put one of them on. That would be the one in the lower pic in the first post. For some reason I threw what was probably the original carb in the garbage, probably out of frustration, ha, but remembered that I kept the tubing (not shown) that connects to the intake manifold where there are two ports with nothing attached.

I found the box that the carbs came in and I did find the tubing that I took off, so this weekend I'll probably try to piece it all together.

Wow, this is customer service!

Yesterday I received a response from the company founder and shareholder of National Carburetor, Eddie Obi. He replied that the carb that I bought from them would not work since it is a Manifold Choke type and the carb I bought is a Hot Air Choke type. He explained that I could return the purchased re-manufactured carb along with the carb I took off, they would rebuild the Manifold Choke carb at no additional cost and return that rebuilt carb to me. Wow, that is service...

I responded back explaining I had found all the hardware I had removed years ago, so the rebuilt M4MC from them should be fine and I won't need to return or exchange anything. I think it's hard to find good customer service like that any more. They have definitely kept me as a customer for sure.
