Chop Saw question

I got a milwaukee chop saw. originally made for wood of course. Just buy the blade. Works great. remember to remove the bag, and put something to catch the metal bits other than the bag.. otherwise you'll burn a hole in the bag. :doah:

try this...

I used my circular saw with a metal cutting blade in it with good results!--its not a 14" chop saw,but it will cut 2" pipe, thick flat plates, and heavy sheet metal for floor patches much easier than a sawsall or torches...my 9" grinder will also accept the same blades,I've chopped many frames up and cut shackle bolts with it like butter!...wear goggles though!

I know some guys who bought those 60 dollar "China" chop saws, and they didn't have much power, and some didn't last very long...you get what you pay for(most of the time--some high dollar tools are junk too :doah: )..

Anyone tried putting a metal cutting blade into a saw sold for cutting wood? They are more expensive but seem a lot more stable/accurate. I thinking of blades like in the DeWalt link above, not abrasive ones.

I put a 10" metal blade in my radial arm saw. Nice straight cuts, but you have to take your time. Probably not the best idea, but it worked in a pinch.

I've a small circular saw w/ metal blades that works great. That's why I thinking my (wood) chop saw would work. Sounds like it will.

Thanks for the tip about the bag, pookster.

BTW, I dont use a metal blade, i use the cutting wheel (the black material just like your cut off wheels). Much cleaner and safer. Just let the blade do the work, i havent really had any problems yet.

I have a Rigid that I got from Home Depot not the best but it has lasted me through quite a bit makes good cuts too. BTW someone suggested a bandsaw on here do not get the cheapy harbor freight one or the cheapy from Grizzly or anyone that looks like them IMHO you need to spend about 500 bucks(new) for a decent bandsaw

That's the reason I stick to the cheaper tools - I don't use them nearly enough to justify $500 for a saw. It takes longer to get it right with the cheap saw, but I don't mind the time.
