I need to find a trouble code reader that will work for 86- 2001 Suburbans. I know nothing about these scanners/readers so if anyone could point me in the right direction, or has some ideas about a good one I would appreciate it. What should I be looking for, what is the difference between a good one and a cheap one?
Thanks guys!

well, for a long time I wa sa big advocate of the Snap-on code readers. There costs have come down significantly on ebay, and I might actually get one.

One of my friends uses his Auto X-Ray and really likes it. Definately a lot cheaper than the Snap-on, but some of the same features.

For a long term investment, Id look at the Snap-on. They constantly update the cables and cartrriges, so obsolescence shouldnt be a problem.

Just my opinion though...
