So I was putting new freeze plugs into my spare engine a few weeks ago and I believe the engine builder used rtv in conjunction with the freeze plugs. Well as soon as I got the freeze plug freed up and was pulling it out with pliers I noticed a 1" long by maybe 1/4" thick piece of rtv fall into the hole, I don't have anything to retrieve it and can't even see where it went inside.

This is one of the freeze plugs on the side of the block in the rear.

Do I need to worry about this?

Is this the one smoking out the neighborhood, or one in the garage on a stand?

You can try flushing it out with a garden hose,or compressed air--if it doesn't come out,I wouldn't lose much sleep over it,its soft and unlikely to damage anything--if it makes it to the water pump impeller it'll get chopped into a million pieces...might possibly lodge in the radiator passages, but I doubt you'd ever know it..

Ok, I was worried about it getting caugjt up in one of the coolant passages one of the heads and stopping coolant flow, if it wont do that then I'm not worried about it.
