The 17 year cicadas are coming out real soon, think i got to put my top back on. They are suppose to be so bad that you have to use your windshield wippers to drive /forums/images/graemlins/yikes.gif Theres going to be billions and billions of them "with anywhere from 100,000 to 1.5 million cicadas per acre." , is there anything they can get into in my truck that will mess anything up? I think they only come out on the east coast.

umm have fun firing it up with them coating the pulleys. just put some really wide floater tires on and drive around A LOT.

oh ok, they can stay on the east coast then /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif /forums/images/graemlins/histerical.gif /forums/images/graemlins/histerical.gif /forums/images/graemlins/histerical.gif

must be a middle and south eastern thing, cause I haven't heard a damn thing about it, never had a swarm here.

I've never heard of them either. /forums/images/graemlins/thinking.gif

if you look them up it says they are only native to the western deserts /forums/images/graemlins/dunno.gif

I know what you're talking about...I remember the 16 or 17 years ago when they were around. I was a kid then and would go outside and swing my net around a caught a few...there was that many.
Sucks! /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif

Oh well, I'll have to deal...

what do your cicadas there look like, ? anyone gbot pics of real cicadas ?

ours are green and black an decent sized, i wonder if i can find pics of midwest ones, hmm
.. ours come out every year and sit in trees and are loud and nanoying and junk and the birds catch and eat them left and right and theres shells exoskeletons that they shed just after coming out of the ground from their tomb.
now they can fly after shedding the exoskeleton,

i swear ive seen pics of cicadas in a book and shows them to be like rust colored almost and smaller. but ours here arent anything liek them really

I was checkin out some sites too and one said they are about the length of 4 pennies with their wings folded back.... /forums/images/graemlins/eek.gif /forums/images/graemlins/eek.gif /forums/images/graemlins/eek.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grind.gif

they're native to southwestern deserts? we see something real similar here in the summer. as i recall, they dont come out here just every 17 years. i remember seeing the shells, or whatever you call them, all over my neighbors treehouse for several years.

/forums/images/graemlins/yikes.gif /forums/images/graemlins/yikes.gif Those are some scary a$$ bugs! Buy a tiger torch and a big propane tank and burn them away!! I'm glad those arent here. Up here, we have alot of stink bugs though /forums/images/graemlins/doah.gif

Oh they arent too bad, when I was like 7 or 8 we always had a blast with em around 4th of July in the East Texas region. We would catch em and tie firecrackers to their backs. And when they flew off they blew up after a few seconds. It was good times. But they did make this weird screeching noise when we caught em. LOL oh well
