So I am trying to put a cigarette lighter in my truck and I don't know how to install it or if I even have the right one. Here's what I got..

The outer housing unscrews off of that one. The wire in the truck needs to be soldered onto one of the center post tabs? It is 12v+. The housing will ground on the metal you install it into.

Change the wire end in the truck to a round female connector. Then you can push it on the threaded stud.

Do you want to wind up with a cigarette lighter or a power port?

If you want a lighter, then use that. You may be able to put a ring terminal under that center nut.
Some will let you do that.

But, if you do not want to light anything, just charge an Ipod, run things off the truck battery, then buy a multiport power port and mount it somewhere handy.

It will have a pair of wires to splice into instead of that pin.

Is there any other way to attach it?
Yes, see the blade coming off the center stud? Just push that connector with the orange wire onto it. That is the factory setup. You can ignore the outer blade as long as you make a secure mechanical connection to the metal dash. You may have to trim the center blade thing to make it work. Also check the fuse for the lighter - it may have been pulled or blown since the wire is dangling.

And I agree - if you want to run a little air compressor or heater off that plug, there are better ways to set it up, but the factory put a 20A fuse on that configuration.
