ck5 slow death? google trends decline

This may be an unpopular opinion, but the ones that leave and go to facebook and the gram, I feel are seeking more outward approval rather than good company. Some have left and went to Instagram where there is more traffic to get "noticed" more. I can think of at least 5-10 people.

It's all about "likes" and "followers". That's what makes you more important...

not true believers

It doesn't seem that the Southeast region ever recovered from the Carolina split many years back. Of course that site died off and think maybe the name changed and Facebook now...not sure, I don't FB.

The biggest part of them I knew/meet, trade parts or wheel with don't get on here anymore or very seldom. Bunch of that group was stationed at Camp Lejeune at the time and probably sold their rig before going back home.

Really hope this place stays strong. I never even thought about what it would be like with no CK5 until this post.

The wit and wisdom here is worth the price of admission, so I gladly re-up every year.

Surprised nobody has mentioned Usenet and newsgroups. That’s where my online escapades started. I think the main group was rec.autos and then there was rec.autos.4x4 eventually, but short-lived (circa 1997 I’d guess).

I was a psychology major at one point and used to check out the alt.sex.fetish subgroups to see what the wildest things I saw were. I’ll never forget the section for men with a fetish for being spanked by a thick wool mitten by a woman wearing nothing but an apron. Second weirdest for me was men who lusted after women who wore clean sneakers on dirt/sand. Never knew I’d be considered a porn star to some men if I bought a pair of sneakers and then wore them walking across my lawn. There’s truly something for everyone online.

But I digress. CK5 rocks the house. I’ll be here until they kill the domain.

CK5 allows us to have more in common than just our trucks. We all have different backgrounds, and some beliefs, maybe lean a little different. This allows for discussion, ability to receive or give help on trucks or life, ( trucks are life). No flaming or worries
Is a great place. I just reupped this week, and the few minutes with adds.... Omg worth the 30 w/o adds

Spot on.

CK5 is for tech and the brotherhood. Can’t find that on bookface or IG.

I'm part of the messenger group, that kind of spawned from CK5. But, I have a hard time feeling part of it. Asking questions, may, and, more often than not, go ignored.
So, I've kind of given up on it.
I'll solve my chev truck issues, by myself.
CK5 lounge, is the only place I spend much time, anymore.

I'm here for good, I may not be as active this year with everything that is going on but I am here on the forum for life. I don't not go to the facebook site at all...I don't even think I have been there once.

I hope the forum never goes away, as I can tell you from experience, I was a member of Jaws Fans forum several years ago and it was a great place where all kinds of information about the movie was stored and stories and even people involved in the production of the original movie. The added it to FaceBook. In less than two years the facebook page was inundated with idiots and the forum was taken down. All that content just up in smoke..in an instant.

There were links to articles and photos of newspaper adds from June of 1975....gone. Facebook was the death of best resource I had for my favorite movie...which is a hobby of mine.

Even if I am not as active right now on the forum, I will still be a member. I don't like that FaceBook actually caused the loss of some members here..some never visit here anymore. I have no Idea how well the FaceBook CK5 is doing.

Here for the long haul! Awesome information you can't find on the net! I learn something new every time I go on this site and hope it keeps going bc I like too keep my k5 going! You guys on this forum make my day on a regular basis.

My wife is glued to Book of face from the time she get up in the morning, till she goes to sleep. Even when she says she is watching a TV program.

This is an issue my wife has. I do not know how to to stop it. I have said that I will stop paying the cell phone bill, but seriously...she lives on it and that is the polar opposite of me. The only time it comes in handy is when I need to do something without interruption...but how does somebody stay on the !@#$ all day?

Slow decline of ck5. :( With the renewed interest in K5s I would think this forum would be growing.

First off, CK5 is not dying it will be around for a very long time, we have survived many imitation websites like myspace, facebook groups, instagram, tiktok, pinterest, twitter, and more to come etc...

With that being said, we no longer are the only player in town like we were back in 1999, there are now more pieces to the pie like myspace, facebook groups, instagram, tiktok, pinterest, twitter, and more to come etc... If you opened a hardware store and it was the only one in a 5 mile area and then 20 years later there were 25 hardware stores, you can see that traffic would now be divided by 25 stores instead of just the one store.

Traffic is down pretty much for every forum out there over the last 20 years, just how it is in today's world. Just remember, Zuckerberg (Facebook owner) hates gas sucking vehicles and everything they stand for, but even FB is now slowing a little as they now have competition, and so it goes. It all comes down to, who do you want to support!

I thank each and everyone of you who have, currently, and will in the future, support this great resource!!!

And again, CK5 is not going anywhere, and not sorry! lol

For those wondering we also do have a social media presence as well...

The more the Internet morphs into total BS the better places like here is...

It’s not like you get the answer you are looking for when you “google” it. Google has become as useless & political as one can imagine.
My daughter set me up with the face crack when my grand daughter was really young so I could see pictures and cool things. Once Obama got in there it all changed & I got out.
It doesn’t sound like it’s gotten any better so I’ll stick around here

CK5 is like a library and social media is like a magazine rack. The magazine rack has a month's worth of info while the library has years worth.

My girlfriend bought a motor and trans from a 56 Olds for her Olds. It was at her brother's house and he was trying to get them separated so he could inspect the flywheel. I wasn't there to help. So I googled it and in like 5 seconds, found a link to a hot rod forum from like 10 years ago, that had great step by step instructions on how to do it. I sent him the link and he had it all apart like 10 minutes later. That would have taken way longer to try and find on Facebook. I probably would have had to join a group, wait for the join request to be accepted, ask the question, wait to get answers, then weed through like 10 incorrect answers before getting a decent response.

Well said!

I have to admit, that I was hopelessly addicted to facebook. I deleted the app off my phone after I noticed how that toxic environment had affected some of the relationships I hold sacred. Like many have said, you offer an actual technical question, and you'll get 40 stupid answers for every tiny morsel of real intelligence.

I am coming up on one year of membership here, and I have to say that I LOVE this forum. The people here are welcoming, and if you cant find an answer by searching they will answer with real experience. I'm not going anywhere. you guys are awesome! Thank you @CK5 for this library of knowledge and experience. Well worth a few bucks to be able to join in...
