Who hear at CK5 think that there truck could take the camel trophy challenge?? I would like to know , because every one always talks about the Camel Trophy Challenge. I always thought that those Land Rovers are tiney compared to the trucks you see hear.

Go CK5!!!!

I say if you give us time to build one we would take em. You would have to set it up for the terrain but if stock landrovers are doing it I am sure most of the guys on here could do it.

I beleive a well outfitted K5 or even a Burb would do very well on this- Lots of room for storage of parts and neccesities... large winch... driver skill and finesse, not so much gobs of horsepower and 44's. The worst part for a k5 would be the gas :doah:

with a turboed 6.5 diesel, th-400, doubler, 52's, 56's, on 38.5in. beadlocked Swamper SX's, hydraulic winch AND electric winch... we'd destroy. :D saweet

wheres the spot to vote for what the hell is the camel challeange? or who cares? or im nekkid smoking camels?:D

Isnt there even one closet land rover lover around here? Comon' guys tell the truth! J/K LOL:haha: :haha:

No realy though a well set up K5 would spank them. I've seen a little of this hear and there and everytime the going gets rough its out with the winches. A snorkel would also be need on the "Kamel K5" mentioned above.

i dont think it would take too much to beat them, but then that goes for other types of trucks or brands also. are the rovers built? just wondering if we're comparing stock to stock or semi built to majorly built?

Somehow I thought that there were going to be pictures of girls in real tight shorts in here.

True Dat!
The only Camel Challenge I've seen on the internet has nothing to do with trucks. Well, come to think of it, maybe one of those videos was filmed inside of a truck.

If you are talking about the old Camel Trophy, they quit doing that years ago. At various times it used Jeep CJ-7s (1st yr only) D90s, Defenders and the last year it was changed to put less emphasis on driving they used Freelanders.

The Vehicles they used were basically stock. They had HD springs and 4 pinion open diffs. Of course the snorkel. Tires were usually Micheline military style and small and narrow. Most engines were 4 cyl Diesel. The open diffs were the reason there was so much winching, rock stacking, pushing, and use of the expanded metal plates. They were also very heavy. They had to carry food, fuel, spares, and photographers, too.

The CT was not really a race as competitors had to render aid to the competition in most segments. There were TDR portions and special tasks like running, climbing, paddling, winching, etc.

Could a stock K5 survive? With proper mfg support I guess it could. What most people on CK5 drive is not what the CT was about, though.

Putting a K5 up against a Discovery and running the Camel Trophy side by side in true fashion(vehicles similarly set-up), I think the Disco would win hands down. K5's have a size and weigh dis-advantage. And the Disco works better in a stock platform.(I feel).

A freind and I ran a "4x4 challange" course in Las Vegas a few years ago. My friends truck was a 71 blazer 4" lift, 33"BFG M/T with a welded rear, 350 with a 0.560" Hyd Roller. My friend has many years of off road driving experience including 10 years running SCORE and SNORE races. We lost to a an old guy in a brand spanking new land rover with the window sticker in the window. He won the $300 prize, my friend only won $200. It was guesstimated the land rover had aout $12,000 in damage including a broken windshield from when it stuffed the bumper in the dirt, Bur it still won 1st place.
