CL find Dana 60 I just paid 500 for it!! workin on it now, have a few Qs though!

What does your wife think of you being on this website all the time? My wife thinks I'm gay, and stupid for talking to guys all the time. Wonder what she would think if I was looking at porn as much as CK5?
 
Good score on the 60. I paid $200 for mine w/4.10`s, and stole the Spicers off it, sold it for $400. It was a tough sell here on the east coast, had a bunch of west coast guys that wanted it. I should head west w/a truck load of `em.
 
Ok. I just picked it up! Looks good. Very very little rust. It has a raised steering arm, brakes, draglink. Even came with wheels and tires. How the hell do I get this thing out of my truck! The diff cover tag says 419 and 456 under that. Then on the housing it says 60F. Is the F for front?
 
i got my 14bff out of the back of my blazer with a strap. ran it around one side of axle and to my cage so it wouldnt fall all the way out. Slid it to the rear and lifted one side and then down the the ground. Then too my strap off and lifted the other side down.

It was heavy but used all legs and it was fairly easy.
 
Call few friends. When the guy came to pick up mine, he had a Wrangler.....and to make things worse, he only had one arm. It was fun putting it in there for him....his stub helped a little. Those 60`s are pretty heavy. Do you have an engine hoist?
 
A member here, bradshawtech, is bringing his work truck over tomorrow. He has a crane on the back. Since the axle has wheels on it, I will be able to roll it into the garage. I am one happy man! I have broke many many D44s. I can't wait to get this thing under the burb! Thanks guys for all the info you have provided me!
 
Munepit..... I'll admit I'm jealous. Not just about the D60 but how much you have gotten done since the beginning of the month. :bow:

Thanks bud. It has been a lot of fun work. I have been I the garage almost every night. We are having a baby girl in under a month from now. I need to get as much done as possible. The guy I got the axle from has a Detroit Trutrack for my 14 bolt and the install kit. He never installed it and wants me to buy it. He didn't say a price, but I'm sure not over $200.00 don't know anything about the locker, but I will do some reshearch on it. Now my gears are going to be different. I have a set of 5.13s for the rear. Now I need some for the front. The hunt is on! Thanks again RollinKaos!

payed $500 for my dana 60/14FF w/ 4.56's

oh well, atleast ya got a heavy duty setup now.

Do you need a D44. It has 4.09s. It has a fat weld around the long tube and the center section, raised steering, new brake pads also.
 
yeah if you get rid of it i would use it. i dont think i'm ever gonna need the beef of a 60 enough to justify the money they cost in california.
 
I have somebody here that might want it. If not its yours. Free! I know it would cost you gas money to get it.

I will keep you posted. When you see pics of the D60 installed in a week or two, that will be the sign for you to take a short road trip:D

lol. thats ok. i dont even have a truck right now to make the drive. still need to get my engine to fire up.
 
Its might be longer. I am going to get the rotors turned. Need some gears installed,locker. Diff cover, locking hubs. Maybe do my first king pin rebuild. Might be a month, damm. I need to rob a armored truck!!!
 
well now thats a job i could stand to help with too. cuz i could use the coinage. but as long as it takes is fine with me. that will give me a chance to get my shtuff together to make the drive down.
