Been messing around all day long with stuff for my inlaws. Finally took a break, sat down at the computer and looked on Craigslist. Saw an add, made the call and went to look at the Burb pictured. Will be picking it up Monday, cause the PO wanted to keep the tires on it and is going to take it to have the tires swapped out for a spare set on Monday. The spare set wasn't too bad.
It is an 81 C20 not an 82, factory 454, currently a 350. Has a bad dist cap/rotor and wires. Also has a busted top shock mount on the drivers rear. The upgraded 400 trans (425 or 475?), 3.73 FF14, tailgate, cruise, cold dual a/c, pw/pl, Trailering Special, 4 core radiator, brake controller etc. The interior is pretty trashed and sun faded. Anyway not bad for the price and a good foundation for a tow burb.
The real question is should I keep it and use all the burb parts I already have to make it a towrig for my camper, or part it out and rebuild the C20 crewcab I have? The crewcab needs a lot of work to get running and make it decent to ride in. The burb would really just need an interior swap and I already have evrything needed to swap into it from one of my parts burbs. I don't really need a pickup bed, just interior room. So let me know which you would keep. Oh and which engine should I go with 454 or CAD 500?
