I'm hoping to put a 2" reciever in my k10 for the usual light duty towing. I grabbed a junkyard trailer hitch and was quickly reminded of the ORD flip kit running steel underneath the frame rails as well. If anyone has pictures or could explain what they did to keep their truck functional and put a hitch receiver on that'd be great. I have a couple ideas that require fabrication, and know a good fabricator down the street since I don't want to mess around welding this with my little 120v hobart.

TIA

I trimmed the flip bracket a little bit.
This is on a K5 square.
Not sure how different your C10 is.
At least on mine, it was just the back corner of the flip bracket.
ORD brackets are super strong.
I'd rather trim that than my Curt hitch.
I didn't call ORD, I just got the sawzall out since I was going to make it work no matter what.

Did you cut out any horizontal gusset? Or was it just that corner. I almost think of you could drill through the bracket and space the receiver down the same gauge width as the bracket you wouldn’t have to trim anything

Just trimmed corner.
Sure, you could do different.

Mine didn't fit well either. I cut the end off my receiver brackets and welded in extensions. Spacers were also a thought but the location of the holes didn't work out with my hitch. Class 4 on a V3500 with ORD brackets. There is another thread on here about this that I uploaded a pic to. I will see if I can find a link.

I also cut my hitch. It has 3 tabs on each side. I cut the one closest to the front of the truck so it would all fit up.

I figure if it was rated for ~6500 I would derate it to about 3500 to 4000.

I first cut my hitch but then put new legs on. My trailer was starting to bend the end of my frame without it. Much better with all 6 points.

I hacked up the flip brackets a little. The DIY4X brackets are super beefy, I don't have any concerns with the strength after the cut.

That’s seems to be the consensus. Diy4x seems to be ok with notching, I can’t find any info from ORD. I figured if you ran a bolt through the receiver and the flip bracket that would be a lot of unnecessary stress than just notching the bracket and leaving the two separate. Thanks for the reply

I just installed the ORD shackle flip and the receiver hitch wasn't even close. I'm not sure what brand of hitch or because its a Suburban there's more real estate involved.

Deed is done... I notched about an 1 1/4-1 3/8 in each direction out of the corners. Got the holes drilled, just need to narrow the receiver. Thanks all for help
