i got around to start stripping out a wrecked 79 c10 today and the dash has been ''pro'?' recovered w/some kind of vinyl?..its really soft & subtle, & uncracked....there are no seams iirc..its very dirty & needs a good cleaning..but imo it actually looks ok:thumb:...how should i go about cleaning it w/o destroying it? are there any new ''super'' cleaners on the market that work?..i'm kinda nervous to just go to scrubbing on it w/simple green or the like. i'll post pics up in awhile

Believe it or not, I have had very good results on those kinds of things with regular laundry soap. You should be able to use a soft bristled brush on it as well.

what he said.... i always grab detergent in a pinch..

being a marine guy, i love and use tons of Spray Nine.... best soap cleaner i've ever used...

Armor all has a cleaner too, and it works pretty good. I used that and a small bristle brush on my console and it came out looking really good. I've also had good luck with Spray 9...

i tried detergent and a hairbrush..turned out that black dash was red & i think its oem, not recovered. soft and pliable still..the hairbrush worked good, i think i'm going to get some more..they're cheap and standup well

i've been using these standard style scrubbers in the marinas, etc for years... work awesome, durable and cheap..

yep, i've got a few of those but had grease & residue on them, so i got a new 50cent hairbrush..surprised it didn't lose any brissels & worked very well, the next test, will a hairbrush stand up to petro and scrubbing, it may melt the brissels & only be good in waterbased stuff
