Anyone ever attempted to clean the EGR passages with the manifold on the truck?

Is it possible with the right brush, like a rifle cleaning brush? I've got the old SES light back again. Everything has checked out except the EGR passages.

When I last had the manifold off of my '91 the EGR passage was REALLY blocked up. There is a 'dead end' from the EGR port down to the cylinder head. It was blocked solid. And I mean solid. I had a screw driver digging at it for ten minutes before I got rid of the worst of it. Solid carbon . If yours is that bad you'll never do it with a brush.

Thanks Mark, that's what I was afraid of. :D

Ah well, I said piss on it and ordered an Edelbrock TBI manifold. I've had my fill of dinking around with this problem.

That's what I did too! If you suddenly lose torque converter lock up let me know! j/k.....I hope.

sure its not a 350C? at which point, you've got a lockup to worry about.

Positive.

I'm wondering if the installer left the EGR ports intact in the intake gasket, I shall know next week.
