Cleaning Engine?

You need a hose...

I sincerely doubt you can "dry wash" an engine!--you need a hose and water!

Nothing I know off you can spray on and wipe off!..I use "castrol Super Clean"and blast it off with water,or E-Z Off Oven Cleaner..or I sneak it to the car wash at night and use the high pressure wash..(a pressure washer works well,it might be the best way actually, next to a steam cleaner)..

Sounds like you would be better off bringing the engine somewhere else to clean it,if any dirt or grease is going to get you in trouble with your landlord..its likely to make a huge mess of the spot you clean it in,no matter how careful you are..

I used an old wheelbarrow and 5 gallons of diesel fuel to clean one engine--it worked out pretty good, just kept brushing the diesel on until it was clean..but getting rid of 5 gallons of dirty diesel fuel was a chore--I let it settle overnight and siphoned it out from the top,to avoid sucking in the dirt--then I used it as parts cleaner--the dirt and diesel fuel had to be burned in my wood stove--turned the stove pumpkin orange! :eek1:

I generally use the bath tub and simple green, purple power or dawn, and use a fingernail brush to scrub with. Works good, lets you set on the side and scrub. Simple green is my favorite I even use it to clean around the house normally. Wife hate the tub thing but as long as I clean it up afterwards is generally pretty cool. Although she did say something about me taking a bath with my tools as a joke last Christmas. :haha:

man we have( or had, havent seen any more of it) this stuff called scrubby bubbles, not shure what the real name of it was, but it was a foam in a rattle can, spray it on wipe it off, worked so good it was un real,
i used some on my engine, took me like 20 min. and some rags, it was spotless great stuff, but i dont think you can buy it anywhere

Just go to walmart and buy a case of the super tech carb cleaner, its like $12 a case, and get a wire brush for the thick stuff. i use carb cleaner for everything and it works awesome, it will remove the paint on the motor though
