I just picked up a serpentine belt setup and all the accessories with it. My old P/S pump is smashed, I don't know how a PO did it, but it's smashed. My nice new 140 alternator wont work on the new brackets, so I'm hoping the junkyard alt works for now. Anyway....I'm looking to clean out the P/S pump and A.C. compressor before installing.

How would you all recommend me doing this?
Thanks

I'll have to look into that, didn't think I could put a drill on it and I didn't know there was a flushing kit.

Is it possible to clean the alternator out? It's full of dust and crap. I will selectively blow it out with compressed air but was looking for something else maybe.

AS far the pump, plug the hole's, fill it with parts cleaner and shake it and rotate the pulley. Drain it rinse again, fill with PS fluid, shake, rotate pulley, dump out DONE.
As far as the alternater, there are dozen's of spray electrical contact cleaner. Spray it while spinning it around, put 1 or 2 can's through it, let it dry, install.

I think my old AC compressor is in better shape than the one I got at the yard. How can I pull the serpentine pulley off and put it on the other? Not sure how to remove them.

On that one you'll need a pulley removal tool. You can buy a kit, or you can go to Auto Zone or the like, and rent one.

Non-chlorinated brake cleaner makes an excellent, and cheap, cleaner for using on the alternator. It will not chew through the insulation and leaves no residue. Pretty common in alternator shops as a quick and easy way to remove grease and dirt.
