Cleaning plastic chrome trim?

What can I do to clean up the rusty plastic chrome trim on my duramax? I know I can take it off, but I actually like the trim.

Well after some googling... I may try white vinegar and see if that does anything.

Most of that stuff is some kind of metallic chrome with a plastic coating. Try some cleaner wax. You can also use metal polish, but you want the non-abrasive kind. Ammonia works on brass - don't know how well it works on something like this.
