So I’m going through the heater plenum and did indeed find a big mouse nest. I think it’ll clean up well. The paint on all the interior plenum is perfect.

what color should I paint the fender wells and the hood hinge? Gloss black, or matte?

I painted the heater core box and the metal pieces under the dash with Rust-Oleum Satin Black. Has a nice dull shine. I used #8 Acid Etch Primer. The mark left on your firewall, looks the the bell end of the
gasket was facing towards the firewall?

It was the bell end against the firewall.

Where did you source the paint, my son checked at Sherwin Williams today and they didn’t have the semi-gloss.

when you say “heater core box” , did you spray the fiberglass housing that actually holds the heater core?

I bought the Acid Etch Primer on Amazon which was left over from spraying the Raptor Liner. The Rust-Oleum I purchased from the local Ace Hardware Store. Yes I painted the fiberglass housing. It was
in good shape but looked faded. I washed it with hot water and Dawn dish soap, wiped it down with a micro-fiber towel soaked with lacquer thinner, then primed and painted.

IMG_1292.JPG If you drill out the rivets and remove the metal baffles attached to the fiberglass box for cleaning and painting be sure to use aluminum rivets when you reinstall them. The fiberglass will start to crack before
a steel rivet will pop.
