Clicking Noise From Rear???

on my daughters 91 blazer, last night she said heard a noise from the rear when she was backing up slowly and turning hard left. she said it happened twice and she's never heard it before.
I didn't hear it myself when I drove it.
she said it was a "click,click,click" sound.
I've never heard it on my 91 jimmy or on my son's 90 blazer.
hers has no lift and 33" tires and a 10 bolt rear.
sound familiar to anyone?

EDIT: we've ruled out tire rub.

Bad u-joint or is it a locker in there

nope... doesn't have a locker.... all stock. hmmmmm i'll check the joints tonight, but i just replaced them a couple of months ago...

Does it have a Gov Loc at least ? Those make odd noises when its about to go .

i had thought about that.... but no, doesn't have a Gov Loc..... which i thought was wierd.... i thought they all came with them...

Yeah, I was voting GovLoc too... I didn't even know mine had it till it started to go out. I looked in the glovebox and saw the G80 code right there :-(

It was making some serious clicking and popping before it went out.

Does the truck have manual locking hubs up front or those automatic locking hubs from the factory? My front hubs started popping (violently) when they started to go. Switched immediately to manuals.

manul hubs from the factory. swapped to the premium warns.... she's never enguaged them as far as I know! (what a waste of a 4wd! she treats it as a mall crawler and the only off roading she does is up my drive way!) lol
I'll double check the code for Gov Loc tonight.... i could have sworn her's didn't have it....
but i could be wrong.
i'll let you know in the morning.

I had done the same thing and found out that I was blowing through u-joints in about a thousand miles. What I didn't know at the time was my straps were worn out and making my u-joints go out quick. The straps are really cheap. I will be replacing them every time I do u-joints now.

Are you sure it's from the back? Front halfshafts like to make clicking noises. So do front hubs.

Probably a piece of gravel in the tread of one of the tires.

OOPS! sorry guys! yes, it does have the gov loc... i finally heard it last night when she was backing out of the garage. definately coming from the rear.... sound like diff swap time to me....
