Clocking a 241c for clearance pics!!!

That's what I keep telling myself. NVG called me twice friday on my cell. I'd hope that JB could do the same.

I thought about doing the same with my exhaust, but there is a Jeep running around here that took his in front of the oil pan. Nice clean job. I may try and duplicate something like that. If I can get someone to get me some 1" raised motor mounts, then we'll start playing /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

JB Conversions just called. They don't know or ever plan on making a clocking ring for the 241. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif Killer nice guy though.

Yeah, I just got off the phone with them and got the same info as you. They were also no help on the 4 to 1 for a 241 GM case. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif I also talked to Taraflex and they are in the process of working on the 4 to 1 set up for the 241 and should have some info in a few weeks. The good part from what I gathered is they will be working on the GM case to start with instead of a Dodge.

Talked to Jb conversions as well today (returned my call) and said he's gotten alot of interest in this type of thing all of a sudden HMMMMMMM and we talked about the details of such a piece , length , material , etc. and he said he would post on this board as soon as he comes up with something marketable , I need something now though , I'm going to check on aluminum for making my own piece , steel was 300$ for 6" of 8 1/2" x2 1/2" wall thickness /forums/images/graemlins/eek.gif /forums/images/graemlins/eek.gifI'll keep y'all posted on this thing !!!!..............CC /forums/images/graemlins/k5.gif /forums/images/graemlins/usaflag.gif /forums/images/graemlins/k5.gif /forums/images/graemlins/usaflag.gif
Does anyone have a hookup for some steel or alum that size????????????? /forums/images/graemlins/k5.gif

LOL, I'll try and get a few more people to call him and ask. He told me that it sounded like a good deal, but he hadn't gotten enough interest to push it up his to-do list.

BTW, no on the aluminum. I will make some calls though /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

On thickness, NVG said yesterday that they engineer the shaft engagement to greater than what their spec was. They were given a number, made it longer and went from there. 1/4 spacer would NOT affect the spline engagement.

Keep me up to speed.

How couldn't it ? without taking material off of the adapter! I have exactly 1 1/8" engagement now , - 1/4" = 7/8" it may be allright for some , but not for me , when there's 2 1/8 " available!!!! the adapter is the proper way to go , I've written off the clocking ring , later.................CC /forums/images/graemlins/k5.gif /forums/images/graemlins/usaflag.gif /forums/images/graemlins/k5.gif /forums/images/graemlins/usaflag.gif

I see your point.

which would be easier/cheaper? Would an output shaft from the tranny that is 1/2" longer work? It would be a LOT more work to install, but would it be cheaper to make/buy?

I'll try some of the other adapter places that I know of and see if there might be any interest anywhere else.

If all else fails, you could get a Klune and clock it /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

i was looking at my friends dodge pick up itys an 80 something. they have a transmission mount very similiair to my 69 blazer and then a plate comes out and turns upo to hold the transfer up. might help you out just a thought.

I know I'll take more rear driveshaft length over less anyday , a 2" spacer instead of a 3"+ would give you more spline engagement, a longer rear shaft and the ability to reuse your current front shaft as it needs to be about 1" longer after rotation!! I talked with advance adapters and they just got done with their 300 clocking ring setup and said they would look into the 700r4 to 241 clockable adapter , and that more interest would speed things up!!!! So call if you could use another 2 1/2 " clearance under your 241 equipped truck!!! later..................CC /forums/images/graemlins/k5.gif /forums/images/graemlins/usaflag.gif /forums/images/graemlins/k5.gif /forums/images/graemlins/usaflag.gif /forums/images/graemlins/k5.gif

just curious, what do you do about the brace that runs from the t-case to the back of the engine? I would think that it would still bolt up, but am not certain /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif.

More than likely it won't work. I'd be real concearned about it on mine, except that it's never been there /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

If it became an issue, a little torch work would get it to fit. Maybe. I'm not real sure of the purpose of that rod, like I said, mines never had it and I've never seen any adverse affects. I've got one, just never put it on.

AA makes a clocking ring for a 241, they sell it to Attitude Performance. The downside is that it is 3/4" thick.

I talked to Novak and AA yesterday. Got *some* interest from AA, Novak, they are a good group, but I don't think it's there cup of tea.

How much engagement is there for us to work with in the case?

Any word on a chunck of aluminum to machine this out of?

That rod is important!!!! It triangulates the transfer case and keeps not only that but the rear of the transmission case from busting off , alot of load on that thing when you start torquing on it!!!! I am going to go with a radius rod deal 1/2"heim ends ,front will mount to the existing 1/2" hole on the tab sticking out right next to the original bellhousing mounting bolt , and will fab up a piece of 1/4" plate to attach to the TC where the old one did and have a 1/2" hole in it for mounting the other end , put a LITTLE tension on it and snug down the jam nuts ! Kind of like a tiny rock rod !! I am currently working on this very thing and should have pic's soon!!! ......................CC /forums/images/graemlins/k5.gif /forums/images/graemlins/usaflag.gif /forums/images/graemlins/k5.gif /forums/images/graemlins/usaflag.gif /forums/images/graemlins/k5.gif

I know It's supposed to be weak, but, how bout the 203 Doubler Ford 205 on a gertrag 5spd.What about the doubler with a 241.Can the rear output from dodge 241 be swapped onto GM 241 to get rid of slipyoke.I want this on my 88 pickup with Ford D60 front{already done}.Dreaming of over 120 to 1 reduction in Moab. /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif /forums/images/graemlins/truck.gifer on 38s in TENN.

anything new on this? thinking of swapping to a 241 with SYE soon (I need a new rear shaft anyway), might as well knock it all out in one shabang!
