i got the 88 k5 5.7 lt tbi 700 r4 overdrive trans beleve its np 208 case. im not likeing how low it hangs. last night I must if hit it 10 times trying to crawl it over some stuff. I herd that i might be able to unbolt the Tcase adapter flip the adpater and the tcase should be able to be clocked? Then make a new shift linkage. IS this possible . Or do i need to redrill the tcase adapte at the trans to do the flip on it?

IF not is there another case that will bolt in directly needing only shifter mods and sit closer to the floor

Yeah buy the ring to clock the case then get out the gold card for shafts.

what new drive shafts i getem made 90 bucks each localy and balanced. All i need is two old ones to be cut down ;) that are longer then i need. Gota love them pick and pull junkyards.

Now when you clock the transfer case do you fill it up before you do so??

Just something i have always wondered about

Buy a clocking ring from diy4x.com, they're $60-70.

As for shafts, its not a length issue its angle. It depends on how much lift you have but often times the stock joints don't have enough angular capacity to work with the case clocked up all the way.

There are obviously ways to get a shaft to work but they are pricey.

There is alot of little variables involved with the 208 clocking. With no lift you are in a better position though for less driveshaft issues. Buy the DIY clocking ring and clock your case. You can do either one or two positions. two positions requires some heavy massaging of the floorboards or a body lift to clear though. 1 position might require light messaging.

The main issue is the length and angularity of the front driveshaft. The stock CV doesn't do well with alot of angularity unless you grind the stops out of it. This can cause balance issues though. The other problem is the more you clock the more the driveshaft is likely to need lengthening. Shift linkage is another issue but is pretty easy, you just need to extend the shift linkage some.

I have 4" of front lift and clocked my case 2 positions. My front driveshaft was stock length and worked ok with my lift before the clocking. After the clocking I had to grind the crap out of my CV to get my CV to not be bound up even at ride height. I also had to lengthen my driveshaft about 2-3". When I went to put my driveshaft in it wouldn't even touch the yoke all the way extended on the splines. For the linkage I had to cut and weld in a 3/4" extension piece to get the shift linkage to reach and shift.

Rear driveshaft shouldn't need any mods it isn't affected. The skidplate and crossmember is the other major issue to figure out. Having no lift will definitly help with the driveshaft issues though, especially if you only clock the case 1 position.

For my front shaft I just cut the tube out and lengthened it myself with a piece of .120 wall HREW tube. My truck is pretty much trail only though so having a non-balanced front driveshaft isn't an issue for me.

Look at my pics in my album. I believe there is picks of my x-member & skidplate and my 208 clocked up 2 positions.

Question on the clocking rings, do the 208 and 241 have the same bolt patterns? I bought the DIY4X 241 clocking ring years ago and never got around to bolting it on, and a guy has a 208 and is interested but I won't sell if it won't fit.

You can get the T-case 4" further up with a 4" suspension lift. Just something to think about.

I plan on takeing my son who is in a wheelchair. With me wheeeling. Only lift im realy wanting will be from tires. and maybe a set of add a leafs and shackle for maybe a inch to 2 inchs of lift. Sons 13 and heavy. So lifting him up real high is sorta out the question. Quess for now . Im gonna have to get the clocking ring. clocl it one position and make me a skid plate for the tcase.

I have 6 inches of lift now,How much would i gain if i was to clock the 208 1 postion, and does anyone have any pic's?????
