How tight are the studs(not the countersunk bolts) supposed to be tightened? I just removed my clocking ring due to it leaking after three attempts to fix it. I then realized how low the 241 actually hangs and would like to get it back installed.

I put mine until they were flussh with the back of the ring. Did you use RTV on both sides of the ring and fill in all the unused stud holes?

Yes I put RTV in the holes, the third time. I think I was overtightening the studs. I torqued them in enough that they left marks on the mounting face of the t-case. Didn't realize this until after I did it though. Could they have been too tight distorting the ring and pulling it away from the mounting surface?
