How important is the tcase pilot that aligns the adapter to the trans case?

To fit exhaust like I want it to, I need to clock this down about 8 degrees. The closest I can get is 11.5 degrees with the NWF ring.
The clocking ring will do it, but then I'll be relying solely on the 6 bolts to make enough clamping force to bear the weight of the 205. The trans and tcase are sealed separately and no fluid is in this space.

Wfo concepts has a 3/4" thick clocking ring that has a pilot machined on it just for this. Haven't yet been able to confirm the degrees of rotation. If it's 16 degrees, thats probably not gonna fly.
I'll have to shorten my brand new driveshaft I made before I figured this out.

Clocking ring and send it? or double dip and buy another clocking ring and cut the driveshaft?

Or hillbilly slot the holes on the back of a $4k transmission lol

It probably gets too close for comfort on how close the bolt holes would be. He likes a little overkill honestly.

The pilot is important. I would not run one without a pilot. Chances of loosening up over time are much greater as the bolts now take a shear load.

Just my .02, but clocking the case down for fitting exhaust is not a good trade off. Get the clocking ring and clock it higher. Its worth all the swearing for fitting exhaust.

I'm just clocking it back to the original gm orientation. And not wheeling it. And since it's about 12" further back it's a little different floor shape. Also there's only one 4" pipe, and it's going to go above and to the side of the tcase inside the frame rail.

But for anyone else reading, yes the pilot is pretty dang important.

If you're putting it back to original gm location, why do you need the clocking ring?
Or did you mean just orientation, not exact angle?

It's a dodge transmission with a dodge 205. In gm trucks the bottom of the 205 is nice and flat, where in dodges it's clocked up a little bit more.
I created this problem by avoiding aftermarket parts and trying to use oem components that happen to fit but were never meant to go together. I would have not needed this if I converted a gm round pattern 205 to 29 spline.

Him need 205 t-case :ROLFLMAO:

this one is actually his. he bought it off a guy in Amarillo. I went and picked it up. he needed the adapter a while back so I took it off and mailed it to him. I know Matt and we have wheeled together and saw each other at social gatherings. I just don't see him that often since we live roughly 400 miles apart. if he needed it I would find a way to get it to him; otherwise he was just going to get it next time we saw each other.

Yeah I am pretty sure he has at least on spare round gm tcase :pimp:

Lol yall. I'm good on 205s. I am NOT building a other damn 205 for this truck lmao. Change my mind like I change undies.
This one is gonna cost me 400 bucks to undo what I done.

The early k30 crossmember is a perfect fit for this dodge g56 trans and tcase adapter height with the nv5600 mount. I did weld the holes up and drilled for the dodge mount.
Fits like factory intended.
