Closed knucle dana 70 front on an '80 GMC???

Hey guys,

Localy a guy has a set of diffs for sale. They are D60 rear and D70 front. He said they came off a '77 truck and sent me some pics.

The diffs look like a closed knucle dana 70 and a dana60 rear. They are both drum brakes.

I didn't think you could get a drum brake D70 in '77, so this set must be off something older. Are these D70 diffs any good/desirable? Can a disk brake conversion be done easily on them?

Otherwise they look complete and have 4.10 gears and the price is somewhat reasonable.

In reality I'm in need a D60 front only. What do you guys think about this D70?

I'd pass. Not much if any stronger than a regular 60. Rears are a dime a dozen. Keep looking for the real deal, there out there.
