Hey all I made a bone head move, Im swapping core supports and and in the midst of adjusting I shut the hood. The problem is the release cable isnt hooked up. How to trip the latch from underneath?

sounds like u got urself in a pickle:wink1: hmm...take of ur grille, im sure u can find a way to get it popped from there

Yea I was thinkin of doin the same thing. I'm not lookin at my hood but maybe if you can grab the latch with pliers or something.

the grill is off. I can grab the the hook but the release for the ring is to the right. Looking at the old support I think im screwed cuz It doesnt look like there is way to get to it without cutting up the hood.

Been there, done that. I found no good solution. Sorry i'm not much help but I do feel your pain.

x2 if i remember right i used some needle nose pliers and a screwdriver and about 45 mins of time. some how, i got new dents in the truck too :doah:

are the inner fenders still on your truck? perhaps you could pull the hinges off and work at it that way? i can't remember if the inner fenders have to be unbolted at all from inside the engine bay.

Well after looking at the old core support, I can get at it with a small pry bar. but for the one on the truck it im not finding anything. Lol I do have a a few spare hoods so I may just hack it up but im gonna try and may notch a lil bit of the core support like a 1/4 inch noting magor just enough room to wiggle around:D Lol no more punching the truck my driver side fender has knuckle marks all over it. May even try pulling the inner fenders.

I cant give you a step by step but I have done it too and used a slim jim (the kind for opening locked doors not the jerky meat stick) anyway I manuvered it in such a way to push the relase rather than pull it.

So I say try some thin steel strap and take your time. If I remember right it took me a few days to figure it out. It was a broke cable for me and a pretty nice truck so I didnt want to damage it.

hmm thats a good idea, I got lots of junk sheet metal i can cut to make one. Now a I want a slim jim(the Jerky):D:haha:

After about 2 hours I got it open, I made a slim jim out of some aluminum flat stock I had. I was pretty close to just hacking it open. thanks for the help guys. Now to adjust the cable
