Hello everyone. I have a 1981 K5 Silverado with cruise control. I’m rebuilding the dash and the cluster plate is brittle and broke. It’s the version with the retaining clip in the back. They seem hard to find. My question is if I delete the cruise control and use the one piece Speedo cable, will that allow me to use the readily available new cluster plates with no retaining clip in the back?

Welcome to CK5 @MikeOC

I am not sure about the cluster, but can and should eliminate the transducer for the cruise control. I always thought the clip was part of the speedo but I don't remember the back of cluster to well. I to will have to deal with soon. Other will chime in and we'll see what is possible.
