Here's the custom one that came with my jimmy... its about 15 inches long.

The end is supposed to have some weird wing nut but how does it connect/stay on? I can order the wing nut from ebay (as well as other sources) but I don't get how its supposed to go on the end at the clutch fork. The end isn't threaded, is it supposed to be? From what I can tell the new wing nut thing isn't threaded either

Also, looking up replacement adjustment rods, the longest I can find is 7 3/4"

Does the wing nut go on the rod first, then the two wings go thru the 2 holes in the clutch fork?

normally there is a spring that attaches to fork and then to truck frame, pulling against rod.

probably I am hoping a real 1 st gen guy chimes in, I am going off memory.

Yes, you should buy the wing nut part. It helps to lessen the binding of the rod in the fork. And yes, put it in the inside hole and the spring in the outside hole. The spring is what holds it all together.
I wonder if the rod will be too long with the correct parts. I would guess that it got lengthened because of the missing part at the fork.

Ok so that entire wing nut thing will fit just one hole, the one closest to the transmission?

Yes, the peaks obviously go into the grooves. (The wing nut will stand vertically) It takes less pushrod travel to release the clutch when the inside hole is used, just needs a tiny but more force.

Got my replacment rod and It all makes sense now. Interesting that I had to look up a 66 c10 to get this style rod though
