Hey I posted this up in my build thread with no response, so I figured I'd see if somebody knows what's up. I ran into what I believe is a problem when putting in the sm465. In the pic you can see the clutch fork doesn't line up with the push pin from the slave cyclinder. I had to pull the clutch fork off the ball stud some in order to get the throw out bearing to line up so the tranny input shaft could go through it. It's still on it and pivots but it doesn't line up with the slave cylinder now. It might work but this doesn't make me comfortable at all. It seems like this clutch fork is too short or something. Think I have the wrong clutch fork possibly. Anybody got any insight?

LMC has 2 different clutch forks listed. 73-84 and 85-91. They have 2 different part #s but are the same price. Were different clutch forks used on different year 465s?
Anybody?

Bueller? Bueller?....:D

I *think* that the older 85+ forks were for the hydro, and the previous are mechanical.

Mine is a mech setup, and If I read your post right the fork is too "far" ? into the tranny? I did this and all I did was wiggle it back a little bit. It stayed on the throw-out bearing and seated on the pivot ball much better.

Basically that's what's going on. When I got everything setup for the tranny to go in, the clutch fork popped in on the ball stud fine and looked good. But when I went to put tranny in I had to push clutch fork into the bellhousing approx 1 in. so the input shaft from the 465 could pass through and line up with the clutch, pressure plate. Is this normal? (Just swapped to a manual so I have no experience with them, is why I'm asking)

You had to push them In? as in towards the passenger side?

I've never had a problem with that. I'm assuming the bellhousing is on the motor, and now you're putting the tranny up?

Yes the bellhousing is on the motor and the tranny is about 3in from being all the way in. When I had the clutch fork fully situated on the bellhousing, the input would not go through the throw out bearing. So I had to push the clutch fork in towards the bellhousing, from the outside of the bellhousing so the input shaft could pass and line up with everything else. I had to slide it off the ball stud some so I could get everything to line up

Y'all are correct about there being 2 forks used over the years. The difference is mech linkage verses hydro.

Is that an aftermarket slave cyl bracket? The pics seems to show a bracket instead of the typical hydro bellhousing. What style bellhousing is that, mech or hydro?

it's a mechanical housing with a GM slave and the bracket I believe is something aftermarket. here are pics of them
