Clutch Housing Inspection Cover Questions. HELP ME

does anyone know if Clutch Housing Covers are a universal part or if they are transmission specific or if hydo clutch sm465 require one? My sm465 i purchased is missing it and i am having trouble finding one for my trucks application. I found one on a corvette site but the guy i got ahold of said the hole for the starter would b diffrent? any help/info would Help me a ton. I attatched a pic of the part i am refering to. Thanx fellas.

i know aluminum bell for 465 tranny has mech clutch style cover.

then there is a hydro clutch style cover. diffrent bolt on patterns.

so i bet the clutch cover for a vette would be diffrent also.
 
I bought one for my mechanical sm465. I didn't know there would be a difference between the two though, funny they would do that.
 
i tryed to bolt up my old mech cover to the hydro i swaped in and it wouldnt go. thats how i know its diffrent like i posted.

oh ic haha. what do u mean by mesh cover sorry for the questions im new to the whole standard transmission thing lol
 
Mech = Mechanical Clutch Linkage
Hyrdo = Hydraulic clutch linkage

I guess sweetk30 tried but I can't believe the difference would be that, the bellhousings seem to look identical. Man that is weird! GM always pulling something!:wink1:
