I'm in the process of swapping a sm465 into my 2wd c20 and I noticed that there isn't a pivot ball thing on my hydro bell to snap the clutch fork on. I've looked around some parts stores but I haven't found anything. Maybe i'm not using the right term. Anyone know what's its called or where to find another one?

I believe I just saw one on a GM dealer parts website. Let me see if I can find it for you.

I don't have my parts manual right now, and the search here doesn't find it http://parts.nalleygmc.com/productS...le=0&isAccessory=0&isPerformance=0&searchTerm= but I'm pretty sure I saw it there, if you want to play around and see if you can do better than I. I like that website because they use the factory parts manual that you can view full size, listing what parts from that diagram are available. I can't find a page for just transmission/clutch assemblies though.

I can get you the GM part number tonight, if you don't find the right piece another way. I'm pretty sure it's still available.

Since I was thinking of it. 15592268 is the GM part number, GM calls it "Stud, Clu Fork Ball". Available multiple places online. GMPartsdirect.com was one of the cheapest, but shipping (as always with a dealer) is a killer.

Huh. Part number even works at summitracing.com

Just as an FYI for anyone else finding this number/post, this is ONLY for the hydraulic setup. My book doesn't go back far enough to confirm or deny that the part works on the mechanical setup housings.

just got one few weeks ago for a hydro bell at dealer on the shelf under 10 bucks. and it was the updated unit that has a greese port to line up with drilled hole with grease fitting in bell housing.

I should check my local dealer. I've moved, my last local dealer would only sell at retail price, which was more than I could get them for online, even with the ridiculous shipping cost.

Dorman or "HELP" makes them--go to a good parts store that sells Dorman "HELP" stuff, and has a counterman willing to LOOK in a catalog!...........they may not have one right in stock, but they ARE available-they also list many clutch forks and pilot bushings now you couldn't get even from dealers before now...................................................................................................Hardly a day goes by that I dont have to show my friend who runs a garage that Dorman/HELP does make a lot of the "we cant get that" parts he was looking to buy earlier that day,and was told they were not available,---a local parts store owner who I once worked for decided to leave him several catalogs of Dorman & HELP stuff, and I've lost count how many times I had to look stuff up in them myself, and give the "counterman" the part numbers, and prove they CAN get it--if they would only LOOK!.......................................................................................................too many retail employees are getting lazy, and blow people off instead of making sales today...even to loyal customers like my friend who spends upwards of 3000 bucks monthly at the stores he uses most....back when I worked parts counters,I was told to not let anyone go away empty handed until EVERY possible brand and warehouse was tried, to see if the part were listed and available...for our "best" garage customers,we'd even go buy it from a dealer if we had too,and mark it up a bit, rather than lose the sale.......................................................................................................today ,it seems if they cant see it on a computer screen,it must not exist,as far as they are concerned--guess they cant read or pick up a catalog any more?.....I only made 8 bucks an hour too,so these monkeys they hire nowadays cant use low pay as an excuse not to do their jobs...most feel they are only getting paid enough to just show up,not do any "work"..makes me sick, having to do their jobs for them, when I need parts at "discount" stores--most wont look up parts unless you have an "application"..when your dealing with a peicemeal truck thats been assembled from parts of several different ones, its not always easy to figure what ones will be "right" .............................................................................I head for NAPA when I need a knowlegdeable counterman, who wont show me the door instantly,if finding the right part requires some effort, and their prices are often less than the "Zone" too,and the parts are not China or Mexico made most of the time too...many times they stock those parts none of the other places dont too,no waiting till "tomorrow"...
