I've been going through my sm465 swap parts and have a couple of questions. First, how the he*l do you stretch the big clutch pedel spring to attach it? Second, the plastic "bushings" that are in the pedal bolt shaft, what are they called and where do I get them?

Thanks.

Only part I can help with is the bushings, slightly. :)

I believe there was a post previous saying where to get them, but I know the ones used for the brake pedal are the same, and obviously easy to come by in wrecking yards, if you want to go that route.

I'd probably buy new. If you don't find or get any info on where to buy them, I'll check the parts catalog and see if GM sells them.

i think this is where you have to unbolt the lower half of the pedal. i would imagine this will allow the pedal to travel further down and towards the front of the truck...shortening the distance between the 2 mounting points.

if that doesn't work i think the only other way(aside from some scary stretching contraption) would be to take the pedal bracket assembly out of the truck. that is a super pain in the ass though.

The pedel assembly is out of the truck, I haven't installed them yet.

The part number for the bushings would be nice.

Part number for '85-88 is 346381

I assume same setup as non-hydraulic, not sure though. Perhaps someone can comment that knows.

When my dad did this he apparently tossed the spacer that they used in the setup, and cut the ears off of bushings to provide more support.

OK, I have offically decided that the spring cannot be put back in place, Without cutting up the bracket. Also, looking at my spring it looks like the tip of the "hook" on one side has broken, maybe that's how it was taken off.

I'm glad you posted that. I have no idea where I got this big spring and why I've been tring to make it fit:confused::doah:. I have the one in the pic and that will work. This other one I can't even bend by hand:eek1:.

Thanks.

Got the bushings from the local dealer. $1.50 ea. had to buy five at a time, needed 4 anyway.
