77 blazer mechanical clutch assembly, clutch assembly probably has fewer than 500 miles on it. I installed a new motor and changed from a two piece rear main to a one piece, so I had to change the flywheel, other then that nothing has changed with the clutch or linkage, I have light spring pressure when the linkage is adjusted but not right I don't feel the clutch disengage is is just light spring pressure the whole way to the bottom. I have tried adjusting the linkage so even without pushing the pedal the clutch should be disengaged but to no avail. I will probably be pulling the trans tomorrow, but would like to avoid it if anyone has any idea why this would be happening.

thank you.

You did put the throwout bearing back in, right??

Seriously, it sounds like the fork is not hooked onto the throwout bearing somehow. I'm guessing that you do not have the bottom cover over the bell housing on this model.
That would make it easy to see whats wrong.

I'm sure you have done this, but if not, I would slide under and watch the linkage as someone presses on the clutch, to make sure its not something simple outside the bell housing.

Be sure to chock the wheels just in case it works that time. Let us know what you find.

Maybe someone else has seen this before and will chime in, but unless something is disconnected in the linkage, or the clutch fork is in wrong, its got me stumped.

I never took the throwout bearing out, I did watch it move while someone pressed in the clutch, it seems to be operational watching it from the outside, with the cover plate off of the bellhousing i just see the the flywheel. I am in agreement with you it seems like the throwout bearing is not engaged by the clutch fork but I don't know how that would happen, as I pulled the motor and didn't touch the trans so the throwout bearing stayed on the input shaft and the fork didn't move, I also took a mirror and looked in as much as I could to make sure the fork had not moved off of the pivot ball but it seems to be on there correctly. I will just have to take it apart tomorrow, I am pretty frustrated the truck went into the garage in November, I finally got the motor up and running and everything back together and I roll it outside thinking i can finally take it for a drive but another day of wrenching. haha, At the dragstrip the saying is always "thats racing" soooo I guess thats "4 wheeling"

On my 80 K5 I had one of the tangs on my fork that holds the throw out bearing break off and cause my clutch to stick and hang up upon release as the bearing was trying to release and come back at an angle on the shaft. I dunno could be the problem?

i bought a 1979 stepside truck about 20 years ago where the PO had all kinds of money in the motor ,tires ,lift, drive lines and gave up when his clutch would not disengage. He put the clutch disc in back wards.instead of the springs on the clutch disc being toward the pressure plate they where jambed against the fly wheel bolts.I don`t remember what the pedal felt like.I just remember taking the clutch out to change it and finding it that way

now it won't engage

Yep that was kind of the problem, the clutch disc was in backwards, after I got the trans out I looked at it and I put it in backwards:doah: (it has TOWARDS FLYWHEEL written on it) put the whole thing back together and now it won't engage, I can have the linkage disconnected so there should be full pressure on the clutch disc and with the engine running shift into all the forward gears. There is some light pressure on it, the trans is spinning but shifting into a gear doesn't grind and the truck doesn't move. Did I destroy the pp?

When installing the clutch and pp I watched the fingers move in as it went together, apparently not enough though.

Does anyone have any suggestions, I am about to go buy a centerforce clutch flywheel package just to be done with this I have engine tuning to do not mess with this.

Thank You.
