So i have searched for a while and probably missed it. Is there any difference between the hydro clutch and the manual. I ask only because i have a clutch for the manual linkage the part numbers differ but i see no diff?

Allow me to add confusion...

I recently went thru this trying to use a manual linkage (3 finger) hi perf clutch on a hydro set up. Every site I searched said either I don't know or "no", the closest I got was a thread here where SweetK30 had problems doing it. I asked a local clutch/drivetrain shop and they said no difference. :dunno:

Ultimately, I shelved the fancy clutch and bought a diaphram style for a hydro application. I never found a physical reason it wouldn't work but my fear of pulling the 4spd & doubler back out overruled.

My guess it that the pressure plate may be differnt between the two. The disc should be the same.

What part numbers are you using, GM?

I'm not sure if we ever answered if the clutch was specific with mech or hydraulic, in regards to three finger or diaphram, because if they were, then the GM part numbers would certainly be different, even if they physically interchanged. If somebody had problems doing it, then I'd be inclined to err on the side of caution and their findings.

Thanks for the input i prefer the diaphragm pressure plate guess il have to do some more research and relay what i find

Thanks again i probably looked over since the search results were many pages. Oh and my part numbers were napas.
