Pulled the cover to my sm465 last night. On the 1 -2 gear and 3-4 gear shift forks the coating is worn off. Is there anyway to recoat them? Really dont want to spend $120 for new forks and have to wait for them to show up. Was planing on getting my doubler installed in my truck this weeked.

Don't think so.

I've not the time to investigate more fully, but the later style (like 208's and 241's use) clip on pads for shift forks would be a worthwhile upgrade if you ask me...$120 would probably pay for any machining necessary, if you could find pads that would fit.

Thats what I thought. I found some replacements for $31 and $33 for the other but they are out of town and really need them today. :( Guess I will just install everything this weekend and pull the cover through the removable trans tunnel in the future to replace them.

How bad are the forks? If they are not gouged, then I would run them for a while. Coating helps to protect it, but it is not critical to the forks function.
