Cobra 29XLR

The hole is just threaded part sticking up with nut on it , sealed by antenna or rain cap that comes with antenna to keep in your glovebox .

No plastic panels , then your going to want to do the painful part of fishing it from the double walled top , through a hole , and into the dome light area and down .

Or use cable clamps and run it where you can see it which is ugly .

Or do the whip .

Its all going to boil down to what you want to do and how it would look to you :thumb:

Okay so you have the trunk/roof mount style? I would really like the cb mounted up at the roof level. Like on one of those overhead shelves or in some sort of overhead console. Probably the overhead console. The coax wouldn't be so hard to run if I did a roof mount since it would be really close to the radio. I would still have to run the power, ext. speaker, and PA wiring. Maybe through the A pillar. No problems with rain leaking in around your antenna mount then? Did you use some silicone as a "just in case" preventative?

Actually I didn't . If I lived elsewhere I may have , but we get rain so seldom in the basin Phoenix and it suburbs sit in . And the antenna has a rubber under it , it gets a pretty decent seal .

However , if you felt like it you could RTV the base below the threads before you pushed it through the hole ( keeping threads clear ) :D

Cool thanks for answering all my questions. I got the cb today and set it up just temporary. Put the antenna up on top of the burb, popped the hood and wired up the radio to the battery with a fuse on the pos side. I can hear some sporadic chatter on 19 and a couple other channels but nothing consistent enough to hear all the convesations. I need to find a good site to explain how to set up the radio controls.

Another stupid question, but with the roof mounted antenna, do you have any height issues. Hitting stop lights, bridges, overhead wires etc?

The Wilson 1000 dead center of my tan k5 . Change the whip and its not going to work on CB anymore .

The lil wil is shorter . And the 500 is shorter

Yeah but they have a short whip option for it according to their site. I take it you just have the standard 62" whip then.
