SES code 44 today on the '89 3500 with a 454. Lean miss? what is it so that I don't just change parts trying things? Fueled up the other tank and switched to the new fuel and it cleared up and light went out. Bad pump? It was the cheapest fuel in the area. Maybe water in the fuel.

If the 02 sensor hasn't been changed for a while it certainly wouldn't hurt to change it.

Good idea, It is actually 45 days old and has about 3500 miles on it. I am guessing bad gas. I changed the filter to make sure though.

45 days old sure doesn't constitute replacement. If it were a couple years old then i would replace it. Since it did this just after fueling i would give it some time and see if you get the code again then deal with it.
