Are they vehicle specific(ford, chevy, dodge, etc)or will one readers work on many rigs?

Mine will read any of those vehicles, but came with just a cable for OBD I GM computers. AutoXray sells kits that have cables for GM, Ford, and Chrysler in the same box. I think their website is www.autoxray.com /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

what about the yrs they cover? cause my dad has a 93 F350(tow rig), my mom owns a 98 taurus, and they are looking at eventually getting a brand new burb....all the other vehicles they own are computerless(which is the way I like them)

The plugs are. And some scanners, like the generic ones. There are vehicle specific scaners such as the Tech 1 and Tech 2. I wouldnt waste my money on one like Strap-Ons. Id get the Ease setup, which you use your laptop (or a Palm) and download the program, its really user friendly too.

No laptop or one of those useless palm thingies /forums/images/graemlins/histerical.gif
