how can I make this work with my long water pump, without losing the provisions for the p/s?

anyone else running this setup?

It looks like the only PS pulley they have is for a keyed pump. I don`t suppose a keyed pulley could be pressed onto a "press on" pump?

What about getting the cog pulley that's the right diameter and having a machine shop weld in the center from the v-belt pulley?

Either that or find a cog pulley with the center not yet machined out and then have it finished to fit your application? You may need to go custom if you can't buy off the shelf.

So your talking having the center of my v belt pulley on the pump now, (press fit), cut and machined to the pulley from BMP, so that pulley is now press fit? Is it possible, being billet aluminum?

Hmm.... good point. I didn't think about them being two different metals.

Still, seems like you could get a cog pulley with an unfinished center and have it machined to fit. Does BMP do their manufacturing in-house? If so, you could probably order one and make sure that the center is unfinished, then have it done locally.

Either that, or just call and ask about them doing it for you...

Here is the latest setup I have w/PSC pump and my original pully pressed onto the PSC pump, keep inmind this is a 454, the place I bought this setup from has many configurations available.

I`m just not sure what options I have with the hydroboost, on a 350.

are you wanting to run that cog setup for a show thing? if you're running a 350, and have slipping belt issues, why not just run the stock style serpentine setup.

I just did the swap myself a few days ago, much quieter and more reliable,,aside from the whole single belt worries, i still prefer the serp than v-belts.

just swapped out the water pump for the correct reverse rotating unit, the pulley for the power steering pump (which is hydroboost) and also had to switch to a newer style alternator, all can be found used and in still working order if you hunt around. OR just buy the new water pump and alternator ana you're still way under the price of that cog setup.

As far as serp goes...at this point, I`m wondering if I were to do it (I have 2 serp setups ) will I have a problem with the transport alternator fitting?

Besides having wasted $180 on march brackets ($100 is the p/s pump one I`m guess I ruined), it`s not a bad idea, seeing I have the stuff....

And I thought the $25 I spent on a new PS bracket from the dealer as bad. (The old one had cracked and a PO had booger welded it, so to avoid the kind of issues you're having I bent over and bought new, rather than dinking with the junkyard. At least I thought I bent over )

Anyway, the Transport alternator is serp from the gitgo; if you can't, I imagine I or someone here can dig up what width belt it's made for ... but I'm gonna guess that it would drop into any GM serp setup pretty easily.

I`m more worried about the shear size of it, rather than the pulley. Will it drop right into the bracket?

If I do the serp, that also change my plans for the upper rad hose, then I`d have to buy a new waterpump, suffer the loss for the brackets, etc.

An alternative to the cog setup, is a semi serp setup, which I`ve yet to find out it`s actual name. This will give me the realiabilty of a serp (type) belt for the alt, and still keep the same configuration, as far as accessory location.

thats what its called.. its more of a year specifac kinda thing... it's the factory stuff when they where swapping over for a few years from v to serp.....

i think it started in 87, thats what mine is..

i just did a Google search for "March serpentine" just to find the pic of the setup, i would imagine Jegs or Summit should have something like that though.
