I'm referring to the kit with Heim joints. This is with the factory steering/suspension on OBS K2500HD. I suggest some evaluation in choosing this kit, as opposed to the new heavy duty tie rod ends.
The new heavy duty tie rod ends (ball joint) look great, and I bought my Heim joint kit just before the ball joint kit became available.
Differences; Heim joint kit is robust as hell, easy to install, almost like a work of engineering art, except for one thing. The follow-up to installing these requires only a "toe-adjust". The threads on the Heim joints are coarse thread. What this means is adjustment is basically too fast to hit tolerances. They need to be fine thread.
I took mine to a premium alignment shop. They quoted $30. It took them three (3) hours to hit the alignment, and that was with the Boss finally having to do it himself. They did still only charged $30. This is a shop that races Porsches.
Ball joint tie rods will be easy to adjust, but they are still just a spring.
I might have gone with the ball joints if they were available at the time I was buying. I don't have the weight of the diesel on the front.
But man the steering is razor sharp with the Heims.
Edit; I had already installed the idler and pitman braces.
