I want to get just a little lift on my 2wd c-10. My options are a 2" body lift or using a 2" coil spacer and a 2" block in the rear. No one sells a 2" coil spacer for a 73 c-10 but I'm sure any spacer for that size coil will work right? Thanks in advance

I'd have to go look at the front end on my C30 (dark now ;) but I suspect that spacing the A-arms down with the coil spacer would necessitate realigning the thing.

That, and the royal bloody pain of replacing the ball joints (which you'll likely find wobbly and Might As Well replace whilst you're in there -- been there, done that) ... it's a tossup as to which is less nasty, that or the body lift. Note I didn't say easier :haha:

Nor I, but it means getting around under the body, which is fiddly, dealing with rusty bolts, mmmm, and prying the body (which is heavy) up with 2x4's and hydraulics.

Then there's trimming the radiator shroud, adjusting the shifter, perhaps lengthening the gas filler & vent, especially with 2". People who've done it often say "Boy I wish I'd only done 1" " :haha:

helped install a coil spacer on a 99-00 2wd chevy truck 1 time . WOW :eek1: was it hard to get the a-arm back on with the coil tight.

if me find some raised / lift spindles and or the body lift. and mabye a new set of springs in the front as the old ones are close to 30 years old prob. :D

Rancho used to make 1 1/2" lift coils for those trucks. I doubt they make them anymore, but it might be worth a call. I put them in my 86 back in the day. They leveled the truck front to back and I was able to run 33" tires without many issues. I did not lift the back at all.
It really wasn't too hard to put them in so I would think a 2" spacer should just fit.

Don't they still make ball joint spacers? I thought if you put the ball joint under the arm at least it gained you a little.

What, you mean they don't still make coil spring lift nuts??

Maybe before most of your time.

They were common for a while. Big weird shaped nut that you stuck between the coils of a spring, and then twisted with a wrench.
You usually put two per spring. It spread the coils apart and "locked" into place.

I put locked in quotes, because sooner or later either the spring would break, or it would spit one of those nuts out on a hard bump with about the velocity of a .22 bullet........

Didn't seem to stop folks from using them though....
