I need to get a coil for my TBI motor in my 85 Blazer, can I just use a Hi perf points type coil? Oh yeah, on the distributor, there are 6 wires coming out of it, 4 go to the computer, what are the other 2 for?

I know you can buy an adapter to put an external coil on a HEI distributor from JEGS- so you could use a coil like Accels "super coil" or a MSD "Blaster".The wires are probably the thick pink one(battery + from ignition switch)and a "Tach"wire for a tachometer,I've never had a computer HEI vehicle,so I might be wrong about that--someone else will probably be more help than me!' /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

TBI motor in 85? Was the motor swapped in?
If you truely have TBI then you can just get an MSD external coil since you should have the small cap HEI setup for an external coil. You need the 2 wires that connect the coil to the 2 pin output on the module on the distributor if you don't have it.
4 wires to computer
2 wires to coil (there is a 2 pin pigtail that connects to the top of the coil from the dist)
