Ok so has anybody on here picked a cold air intake from amazon or ebay for a suburban or k5? Im want to get one but wanted to check with any one here im on my cell phone so i cant post a link but i ll post it in a bitt when i get home. They run about 49 bucks plus 13 dollars shipping any ways if anybody has one let me know the pros and cons please thnks

Since they (along with pretty much every car and truck made by anyone since 1981) had cold air induction stock, why would you want to buy one?

And even if they did do something beyond what stock was, induction is not a problem on these motors. Cam, heads, and exhaust are all far more restrictive than the intake side.

Well idk how i even came across it lol but it had good reviews and my burban is tbi.

I'll be more succinct: It is a complete and utter waste of money unless you like the way it looks.

It is your truck, spend as you wish, on what you wish. Do not take marketing hype, or the hype of those that have spent their hard earned money on something, as proof that it does what is claimed.

To get a bit more technical, with a stock small block TBI, the throttle body is limited to something like 525CFM IIRC. Here is a chart that lists pipe diameter and CFM http://www.exhaustvideos.com/faq/how-to-calculate-muffler-size-pipe-diameter/ So 2.75" air inlet will flow as much as the throttle body will. You can't flow more than the smallest restriction.

If the the snorkel inlet is equal to or greater than 2.75" diameter, no additional size will help. I would be willing to bet the snorkel inlet is probably at LEAST equivalent to 3" diameter pipe.

Flip the air cleaner lid over if you want to hear what the aftermarket setup will probably sound like. It's not helping performance, but will give you an idea.

Are you thinking of the 92 and up Suburban and Tahoe (early 2 door Tahoe was labeled "Blazer")? I've never seen a cold air kit for the square body TBI trucks... ever.

Just hover over the address bar for a couple seconds, choose 'Select All' then select copy. Then paste it in your post.

Cool cool thank u sir. I you would only see the phone i had before this one lol u would understand i recently got sucked in to the "smart" phone world.

Well that was easy. If that's the one you're looking at.....it wont work. It's for the newer body style.

Other than everything everyone else already said. If you find something else, remember it will only be for looks unless it comes with a supercharger.

Yup, all it does is put a filter over to the side. No baffling or anything to block out hot under hood air. No better than being "that guy" who flips his air cleaner lid upside down.

On top of that, I bet if you cut that filter down and measure the square footage and compare it to a stock TBI filter, I bet it's smaller (more restrictive).

Function > Form
Although not the prettiest thing to look at, the stock TBI air cleaner flows more than enough for the stock TBI engine. And with the hose that goes from the air cleaner inlet to the rad support panel, it draws cold air in from right behind the grill/headlights. Look up "ultimate TBI mods" for a bunch of stuff you can do to improve the performance.

Personally, I like the old school uncluttered look of an open element air cleaner. Whatever minor performance impact this has due to hot air is worth it to me because of eliminated underhood clutter. I have a tall, low diameter K&N and can access almost everything I'd want to with the air cleaner still on. Maybe my priorities are wrong...

Nah, I'd have to agree with ya Mastiff. My family's boat is like that and it's kinda nice. But for the blazer, I'm lucky to have the tall air cleaner and still have the hose.
