1991 Chevy Suburban 1500 4x4, 210,000 Miles kicking stong and smooth.

Cold Crank Problem: This issues is very intermittent. When I bought the truck off of my dad, it was sitting for about 1 year with very little drive time. Odo read 160K miles and on a cold start it would crank and run for a split second and then shut off.

Step 1: Tune up w/ plugs, wires, dist. cap, rotor, coil, oil and filter change and adjusted the timing.
Step 2: Replace Idle Air control Valve
Step 3: Checked all Vacuum Leaks
Step 4: Replaces MAP Sensor

After the tune up it ran great, but the next cold start, same issue. So on to step 2, same thing happened, ran great, then went right back to the same problem. After Step 3, same thing, then step 4 all the same thing.

Sense then I now have 210,000 miles on the truck and installed a 4" suspension lift, new paint, and 35x12.50 BFG MT's. Well my problem only happens now when it is below 40 degrees...well sometimes only 1 out of ten times, I only put about 25 miles a month on it now. I have been told the problem could be the coolant temp sensor. I believe I could still have a vacuum problem given the condition of some of the hoses.

Currently this issues is very intermittent. I can not reproduce the issue for a code reader. I should also mention when I do have the crank problem I crank it again with a little throttle and it runs, but with a low idle, once it warms up it idles high. If I don’t have the crank issue, it runs great at all temps.

Am I the only one who has had this issue?

I can live with it, but its a really nice truck and runs great except for this little issue.

If you think the vacuum hoses may be bad, then spend the $10 for a roll of tubing to replace them. Even if it doesn't cure the problem, it probably couldn't hurt. Maybe the Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) is out of whack.
