He did you a favor. As I was reading through I thought "RUN."

There is a reason why all that is pulled off, because he pulled that motor, took all that stuff off, put it on the new engine, and is trying to sell you an engine that is likely junk. Obviously, otherwise it would still be in the vehicle that it came out of. People don't pull perfectly good running engines out of newer vehicles because they don't like what color the block is painted, they pull them because there is something wrong with them.

As soon as I saw that it was missing all of that stuff I knew right away that it wasn't what I wanted to deal with.

He said it was a lifter noise, I was hoping he just didn't know he could replace the lifters, or didn't want to hassle with it. It was also at a "shop" in the ghetto, so that made me think it was pretty sketchy.

I'll probably just find a totaled truck and get everything I need from it.

Around here you can sometimes find a running vehicle with the engine & trans you want for a cheap price,if its rotted and headed to the junkyard soon..

Once said vehicle hits the junkyard though,the engine will cost what the whole vehicle could have been bought for..seem pieces of vehicles sell for more than as a whole at times...I prefer having the whole "donor" vehicle,then have a salvage or scrap hauler come haul off the carcass if I have no way to get it there myself..
