the tv cable controls when it shifts and sorta lets the tranny know where the throttle is. it also downshifts the tranny when you gun it and depending on where you got the TV cable is adjusted is how much throttle you gotta give it to get it to down shift ... TV cable is also known as the downshift cable.

The tv cable is critical to a 700r4. There are complete instructions somewhere on this site of how to adjust it. I recommend looking that up. It controls the main line pressure and is probably the reason yours is going out after only 5k.
