Okay okay - I'm probably gonna get flamed - but I'm ready to paint my transfer case with some POR-15 - what color is the closest to stock for a '72 Blazer - anybody know?

Burnt sienna

What the heck color is burnt sienna? is it out of the Martha Stewart collection?:D

The unmolested trucks and blazers I've worked have all been orangish. I don't know specificly what exact color they were when they were new as the years and layers of grease have faded them to a point where it's just a guess.

I've read the Chrysler orange you will find in the auto rattle can paint section is a very good match to the original color.

I have seen a brosure of the chassis and it looks like rustoleum red there. Mine was orange-ish, but I painted bright red when I put it back together.

Older 205's came in a coating that was/is similar to Glyptal, formally made by G.E. . It is a coating that was originally made for the interior of electric motors that was very durable and corrosion resistant.
If you look on the inside of most older manual tranny's and T.C's it was used there too. At some point the bean counters did away with this extra cost and bare metal was the norm from that point on.

Here's my question.
I've seen your truck, why would you want to go to the stock color anyway?
The only thing stock on your truck is the inner fender screw.:D

Paint it waht ever looks goot to you.

Hmmm....  Clear powder coat over the top eh?

I wonder if I could chrome plate it? :haha:

I'm thinking I will just do Chevy orange :D

I used International Red before and it came out looking good. My case is black now to match the doubler.
