I need a little help deciding on color scheme for my 77 K5.

I was originally going to do a flat camo tan for the body with a tan soft top, tan seats, black bedliner interior, black roll cage, black bumpers, sliders, etc and tan accents on certain parts like diff covers, traction bar, etc. See inspiration pics below

The other option I was considering was a olive drab body with all the rest like mentioned. See inspiration pic below.

So in light of recent events I just acquired these wheels and tires and they have black centers with the army green outers.

This has me thinking of whether I should commit to the olive drab and do the tan soft top or maybe a black one instead (see pic below) or I should continue with the original plan and just paint over the green powder coating on the H1s or maybe even just leave them the way they are with the tan on tan color scheme. If I went olive drab body and tan soft top I might change the color of the roll cage to tan too.

Obviously I have way too many options and I am open to suggestions so lets here your preference.

The reason I was leaning tan soft top was to keep it cooler in the cab with the sides and back in place and to match the tan seats that are going in it.

This is an issue that I need to resolve quickly because I am about to order my Softopper soft top and need to know if I should get tan or black . . .

I prefer the tan, but as Chris said, both would work just fine.

It's all your personal preference, but I like the black better. Both look good.

So you vote black with the green body? Only thing is if I decided to go tan body later on I am pretty sure I would not want a black top. I think the tan would look good with either.

Here is one more option, one that I am really starting to consider. The truck was originally brown from the factory, then was painted olive drab at some point, and then painted the red that it is now which has faded nicely over the years. Wire wheeling some paint off of body panels I can see the progression and order. I really would have liked to kept that faded red patina but a lot of the body was really poorly repaired so I am going to be replacing major body panels all the way around. My new thought is maybe try to recreate the look of the truck as I bought it by layering brown, olive drab, red, & flat clear but exaggerate the wear between each stage to give it a bit of a rat rod look. I think since there would be patches of that army green showing through it might tie nicely in with the wheels and give it a paint look that reflects the age of the truck (38 years).

So . . . if you can picture that look would you vote tan top or black top?

Maybe something like the following but dialed back considerably.

I think the last one is my favorite but I am not going for rust look as much as I am faded red over olive drab over brown with show through of the three colors like normal weathering and wear would produce.

It's totally personal preference, so I'd go with what you want and not opinions from people on the internet.

But yeah, I like black the best on that one.

Here is what I have going on right now and this is what I might try to recreate with new paint and exaggerate a little more.

Now imagine that look all over this truck with the green from the wheels pulling it all together.

Alright guys, I went ahead and ordered the tan Softopper top since I think it leaves me the most options. I believe I have it narrowed down to one of these three options:

1) tan on tan look with the green wheels and green accents (diff covers, traction bar, etc)
2) tan on tan look with green outers painted over with tan body color and tan accents (diff covers, traction bar, etc)
3) brown, green, red patina rat rod look with tan top green wheels and green accents (diff covers, traction bar, etc)

What do you think?

the patina deal is beyond played IMO...

You mean it's way overdone right? I agree in the sense of a traditional rusty rat rod look but this would be more of a military rat rod deal. One of the things I like about the tan on tan is that you don't see a whole lot of those and it is a nice tip of the hat to the fact that my truck has CUCV axles. I imagine it is also way cooler in the summer when dark colors roast the vehicle's interior.

I would tend to agree, as well as the ratrod deal.

Tan on Tan is definitely a different look, more subtle and agree prob a bit cooler overall. I do like the fact that your thinking military heritage on it, that gets done a lot, but usually with a big star on it somewhere...the patina look would be a bit different in that regard though.
bottom line, keep going over photos and start eliminating them down to 2-3, then pick em apart til you find your combo.
