Colorado vehicle title laws

I am looking @ a truck that it appears was last reg in Colorado, but was abandoned here. I ran a car fax, looks to have been reg or titled in Co in 2009. How do the laws work in Co, can I get a dup title? I looked at the DMV website, didn`t get a clear answer.

You will probably have to call MA DMV to see they want to handle it. A colorado title isn't issued until a certified inspector verifies the VIN against the title..for registration purposes

And you might want the local PD run the VIN/plate to make sure it wasn't stolen.

Duplicate title can be obtained by the last title holder, (the person whose name is on the title of record) the DMV shows. http://www.colorado.gov/cs/Satellite/Revenue-MV/RMV/1210324084599

If you can't locate that person then you will have to go through the bond for title process.

Somewhere in the link above is a contact page. I would 1st call with the vin and have them.run it.
I've done it many times with motorcycles, trailers and cars just to be safe.

If its clear then go further.

Thanks for the info guys. Negative on paperwork. I don`t think it`s stolen, looks like it had some mechanical issues, and was abandoned left to die. Might not be worth getting involved in.
