I have an 80 K-5 and would like to some mods. Right now, I want to move the shifter lever from the steering column to the floor. I know I would need to build a custom console where the shift lever would sit, but I don't know where to start or what I need. I know this is possible, I just don't know how.

So, what would I need to make this work and where should I start??

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Scott

Stick or auto?
On my Burb with 700R4 converted to TH350, I installed the HURST Promatic2.

B&M makes a shifter for trucks, with a raised platform. No console to build. Figure out where on the tunnel you want the shifter, and cut one big hole for the cable. The rest is just connecting the cable from the shifter to the tranny.

Same from HURST. Having had both B&M and HURST; B&M has a more precise shift "feel". Cable blew-up in short order, from drag racing/bang shifting.
HURST seems like it's really sloppy shifting, some times notchy. It works. It's still in my truck. If you put a valve body shift kit in with a floor mount shifter, Trail work is really fine. :D

the Hurst Vertigate blows away anything B&M makes... You must have a faulty one or something...

I ran em for years in every hotrod I built...

B&M Truck Megashifter and a Std. Column to get red of the rest of the stuff. I you want to take it a step further, get s std. shift dash bezel. No PRND21

eh, not that expensive imo... they go on sale quite often, I paid 200 for mine... I think most B&M's run 150ish iirc...

Before Hurst got the Verti-Gate, it was originally a Mr Gasket product years ago...

I'm not a fan of B&M stuff.. It's always seemed cheesy imo... The A.C is indestructable.. I'd like to hear more from the few running Lokars...
