I have been doing some searching but was unsuccessful. Is their a way to convert the linkage on my column shifter in my 1990 k5 to a cable shift. It is connected to a 700r4. I am just tired of messing with the linkage and would like to make more room for exhaust ect. However i do not want to convert to a floor shift. If you have heard or done this and could help me out that would be great Thanks

Look into the Lokar brand products, its more street rod type stuff but I think they make something like that.

ya i think i will email them. I found so sites with dead links naming that brand tho. thanks for the heads up.

Cool that looks like what im looking for! I emailed them to get more details. So we will see I would be down to pay 100 just not to fuss with the solid linkage anymore. Thanks for the help first two time i search i couldn't find their sight but i was also pretty tired.

i like the quality of the shifter i have.

its a shift rod from shifter thats mounted to tranny and then down to shaft on tranny. with hiem joints. works great.

i even set the position to pop up threw the old 4 speed hole when i swaped from stick to auto . kept the 4speed boot also. just not installed in those pics.

dude, you are the king pic whore in here....

That's a nice shifter I like the piston look

Hijack alert!

When going from the column shift to a floor shift like that sweet Lokar set up, how do you go about wiring up a neutral safety switch? I would want one and I want to go to a floor shift on my K5, but I like the saving grace of a safety switch so I don't screw it up when I'm R-D rocking out of something gnarly and accidentally stall it.

there is a electric switch on the lokar unit. can be setup for reverse or neutral position.

and there is detents in the shifter so no bad shifts from 1 direction to the other. :doah:

and pics are good . help make the big cash decision better in the end. lots of times i have made the choice from pics or hands on . catalog pics are only just so good till its possible crap shined up.

and if you go floor shift . make a little bracket to hold the link bar up in the engine bay were the stock stuff went. or it can drop and not let you get your key out of the lock.
